CHINA HOMELIFE SOUTH AFRICA KICKS OFF

JOHANNESBURG – The China Homelife and Machinex Trade Fair – the largest exhibition of Chinese producers in South Africa – launched with an opening ceremony at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg, yesterday, 24 September. The fair, which runs until Thursday, 26 September is open from 10:00 to 17:00 each day and features a variety of high-quality Chinese products from machinery, textiles, home appliances and building materials straight through to new energy, household goods, beauty and consumer electronics.

At the launch, Binu Pillai, Chief Operating Officer of Meorient International Exhibition, said: “This is the eighth year that China Homelife has been running in South Africa. We hold the fair in Johannesburg as it is a gateway to the African continent. We want the fair to be a platform for Chinese suppliers and manufacturers wanting to do business with Africa. In this way, it promotes mutually beneficial cooperation.”

In addition to Pillai, some other dignitaries at the opening ceremony were Pan Jianjun, President of Meorient International Exhibition, His Royal Highness King Maziko III, King of Mazibuko Mwelase Royal Kingdom Traditional Council, Busisiwe Khanye, Executive Mayor of Dipaleseng Local Municipality and Richard Ntjana, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Randburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Speaking at the launch, Ntjana said: “South Africa has high rates of poverty and inequality. We need  visionary, solutions-oriented people to make South Africa work. I encourage you to look at the innovative products at the fair and come up with solutions to take the country forward.”

Through China Homelife, traders, buyers and importers can collaborate, maximise their networking opportunities and engage with nearly 500 leading Chinese manufacturers and almost 10,000 high-quality products from China.

The event is primarily aimed at distributors, traders and importers, small business owners, general dealers and buyers who are interested in engaging directly with some of the biggest global suppliers and manufacturers from China. It affords them the opportunity to interact face-to-face with Chinese manufacturers, build strong business relationships with exhibitors, view the latest, certified products from China and keep up with latest trends. It’s a great opportunity to grow your business and product portfolio through selling innovative, high-end products – from kitchen utensils to lighting and clothing right through to bath tubs, basins and bathroom cabinets, furniture, jewellery, brushes, bags, speakers, stationery and more.

However, anyone interested in China imports is welcome and general members of the public can buy high quality Chinese products for their own use at home.

To ensure efficient networking and successful negotiation, China Homelife South Africa and its onsite Match-Making Programme is assisting buyers in doing business with the right exhibitors.

In addition to showcasing an array of new energy products – including solar panels, power banks, batteries, generators and inverters – the fair also included an Africa Energy Solutions Conference on the first day. Entitled “Redefining Energy in Africa”, it brought together leaders and innovators in the energy sector to explore new opportunities for growth and collaboration. Directed by Dr George Tsibani from the University of Johannesburg, the conference provided valuable insights into the latest trends and advancements in energy solutions, while highlighting the importance of facilitating trade, investment and partnerships between China and Africa within the energy sector.

Entrance to the China Homelife Trade Fair is free of charge. Pre-registering for fast-track entry and avoiding long queues is recommended.
