Arrest made in Thembisa for reckless driving
Thembisa – In a recent development in Thembisa, a 35-year-old motorist was arrested for reckless and negligent driving. The arrest, made by officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Thembisa Precinct, highlights the ongoing efforts to promote road safety in the area.
The incident serves as a reminder for all drivers to adhere to traffic laws and prioritize safety on the roads.Officers patrolling on Andrew Mapheto Drive noticed a white Toyota Quantum Ses’fikile minibus taxi driving inconsiderately, disobeying road traffic signs, near the Isangweni taxi rank. A chase ensued and the male driver stopped at the robot next to the Mpho Bridge at Mpho Section. It is alleged that when approached, the suspect produced a fake driver’s license with a photo that was not of him.
When asked, the suspect confessed that the license belonged to his brother who is in Zimbabwe. The suspect was immediately handcuffed and detained at the Rabasotho police station, facing charges under the Immigration Act plus, reckless and negligent driving, and the possession of a fraudulent driver’s license. The minibus taxi was taken to the Thembisa EMPD Precinct, for further investigations.
