Apply for the Gauteng Academy bursary

Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) bursary

Are you a Grade 12 learner who is unsure if you will be pursuing your studies because you can’t afford university fees? Don’t fret; we have got some good news for you. The Gauteng province has introduced a bursary scheme for learners like you.

All eligible learners can now apply for the Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) bursary. According to a statement issued by the province, the GCRA will play a major role in building a pool of skilled, capable and ethical workforce for the Gauteng City Region. This goal will be achieved through different interventions, including bursaries, internships, learnerships, skills programmes, to name but a few.

“The GCRA bursary programme is open to all qualifying youth. A particular preference will be given to youth from Gauteng, who wish to study for an undergraduate or post-graduate programme,” said the statement.

The GCRA has developed an Unemployment database to identify participants for development programs. The employment opportunities will come from Gauteng Provincial Government departments, municipalities, government agencies, and the private sectors. Interviews and other application procedures and results will be used as a basis for program selection. The aim is to build a skilled, capable and ethical workforce for the region.  The bursary covers tuition fees and other expenses. Beneficiaries of this bursary will be expected to sign a contract that will stipulate all the bursary conditions. The closing date is 28 February 2022.
