IVory Park man hands himself over for murder
IVORY PARK – A 23-year-old man from Ivory Park’s Extension 12 has handed himself to the local police following a murder incident that took place in the early hours of Monday.
The suspect is alleged to have stabbed another man to death over the affections of some lady they both met at a tavern. Both victim and the suspect, who happen to have been lifelong friends, are said to have bought the lady in question some liquor during their stay at the said tavern but, seemingly, the deceased refused to let the lady leave with his friend. Victim was stabbed once in the upper body and he died shortly afterwards.
After playing hide and seek with the police the suspect was advised to hand himself over as the police were not willing to rest until they had him behind bars so that he could account for his alleged crime. He was handed in by his father on Wednesday morning and is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court as soon as possible to answer to a murder charge.
The top management of the Ivory Park SAPS has expressed concern at the level of alcohol abuse, and the failure by even the licensed establishments to close their outlets on time.
