IMBIZO EMPOWERS LOCAL BUSINESSES
The City of Ekurhuleni, in partnership with Gauteng Provincial Government, held the Township Commercial Property Owners’ Imbizo on Thursday, 5 December at Tsakani Community Hall. The Imbizo was part of a campaign dubbed Qondis’ Ishishini Lakho – Fix Your Business, aimed at helping local businesses comply with essential regulations in Gauteng.
Addressing the crowd Ald. Nomadlozi Nkosi, a Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Developmental Planning and Real Estate, said: “Our offices have streamlined the processes to make compliance easier for businesses. We invite businesses, including informal traders to come forward so that we can assist them to meet all necessary regulations and abide by the law.
“Together, we can help our local township economy thrive.”
Property owners received valuable insights on several important aspects of trading and related zoning, including:
- Guidance on how to effectively register their businesses;
- Understanding the significance of a Certificate of Acceptability, health and safety compliance;
- Clarification on local zoning laws that affect business operations;
- Ensuring properties meet necessary building regulations.
“The Imbizo is one of a series that are held across the city to foster a supportive environment for businesses in townships, promote compliance, and enhance overall economic vitality,” explained Nkosi.
Business owners and property owners who have businesses operating on their premises are encouraged to visit their nearest customer care centres (CCC) for further assistance.
