Motivating young people through his music

By Dumisani Hlatswayo

There are stories of young artists doing their bit to inspire others. One such dynamic artist is Mulalo Mashinge, who goes by the stage name, RGEE SA. It is rare to find a multi-talented musician who uses his music to motivate young people as he does. RGEE SA doesn’t like boxing himself in one genre, that’s he does both Amapiano and hip hop.

“My goal is to motivate the youth because, as we all can see; most of our youth are lost and  lack motivation. Hence, we have many of them who end up taking drugs because they feel and believe that they have no one on their side,” he said.

RGEE SA said he wants to encourage and support young people to realise their dreams. His aim is to use music to change their mindset and understand that they are not alone. He said if young people want to pursue something, they should learn to do it themselves.

Rgee SA has released five singles that are available on all streaming platforms: Bheki Cele, (2018), Ng’saPhusha (2019), UsaKhumbula (2020), Iphupho lami EP-6track EP(2020),

Asambe ( 2021) and Gijima (2021). “In all those songs, I worked with Blaqtone beats and Calvin Flow, who are responsible for producing and mastering. Besides music, RGEE SA also does motivational talks, dances, MC events, and presents shows.

“I faced many challenges due to lockdown because I could not perform, which made me suffer a lot financially. As you know, if I can’t make money, I can’t produce quality music,” he revealed. He is busy working on his Piano EP that he will be releasing sometime in 2022.
